Lion Portraits
My favourite photos of lions taken at various national parks in Southern Africa. Lions are a high priority by CITES currently listed under appendix II however consideration to appendix I is long overdue as under appendix II trade in bones and trophy hunting is still allowed. Under appendix I these are not permitted. The number of lions in Southern Africa is rapidly declining with only app 9000 lion left. Trophy hunting of lions is unfortunately still permitted in countries like Zimbabwe where quota for lions are still handed out every year by Zimbabwe National Parks.
